There are gross inequalities faced by women from birth to death I suppose its just the world we live in From poor education to weak nutrition not forgetting the gender discrimination and cultural norms These are just some of the reasons that lead to feminization of poverty Though the main cause is low income there are loads of other factors But could these be the only reasons Is it what we see really just on the surface Of course it is very easy to just say get a job or do something about your life and get out of poverty but could it be possible that there might just be something else we dont see Another cause perhaps another story maybe a life experience Broken Sentences by Anna Deavere Smith was eye opening for me Reading about women in prison really changed my perspective on poverty Crime in a way leads to poverty apparently or rather obviously I suppose But the fact is that often a crime isnt really a crime from the criminals point of view Sounded bizarre to start with but eventually made so much sense to me The crime is committed in that same desperation to come out of poverty or just due to helplessness that eventually leads to time in prison that sometimes isnt deserved yet debatable according to me when seen through the criminals eyes And then there is the push into poverty sometimes for nothing strongly my opinion I have always been one of those people who thought poverty is the consequence of your own doings maybe your laziness or just bad luck and that it couldnt be that difficult to come out of it when all that is needed is the effort But turns out it can also be the other way around Poverty can lead to crime It almost became what I believe is the truth that people just need to get a job but never actually
