Type and purpose of the group you facilitatedOn March 20 2013 I had an opportunity to facilitate in the counseling group which was teaching to understand defense mechanism and growth The purpose of the group is to discover the meaning of self-esteem in people because sometime people expect too much from themselves by comparing themselves to others and it causes them to not feel confidence of what they do In social work field this group work calls the treatment group with the purpose of growth which is recognize the way to improve self-esteemWhat beginningopening skills you used and how well it workedAt the beginning I introduced myself and asked members to do a little check in about them so we could know each other names and how they feel about themselves based on where they are now At this point my purpose was trying to know the group members and they could feel more comfortable and close to each other by knowing where others came from I was using the authoritarian and democratic behavior styles to approach and empower members to share their thoughts Moreover the leadership behavior styles are very important to caught members attention and make them to actively participate with the group workInteraction between you and members betweenamong members and other group dynamicsAfter the opening part I identified the meaning of self-esteem and gave a short story as an example of self-esteem Members seem more interest to listen to my story then I gave them a small exercise to answer five questions in order to understand and see how they proud to be them The exercise connected between me and members among members and other group dynamics because it was the time for them to hear and understand about an individual members self-esteem and passion I asked each member to answer one question as we went around the circle While I gave my feedback to a members answer one member interrupted to
