Over the past few weeks in this Philosophy course many topics have been discussed The class has written about several opinions and points The topics I have chosen to go over again are Happiness and Immorality by Cahn and Murphy Euthyphro by Plato God and Morality by Cahn and Utilitarianism by Mil In Chapter 8 Cahn and Murphy both disagree about happiness concerning the immoralist Cahn thinks that it is possible for an immoralist to be happy but this could pose a challenge to morality because it damages the drive to choose morals Murphy argued that the immoralist could be happy but not the happiness described by other philosophers They brought up several examples of people in this chapter Fred the Physician and Kate to get their point across Fred is famous wealthy and has a reputation for probity Cahn says that he could be happy with what he has because it makes him happy I agree with Cahn because a person can be happy even if it is something that is morally wrong for someone to do For example killing someone may cause a person happiness but its morally wrong People have their own specific opinions and actions that make them happy Society has created a standard of what is moral and what is immoral Most people can also not care about what people think when it comes them and their morals Society says that gay marriage abortion killing discrimination along with many other things are immoral However there are the occasional people that disagree with these views In Chapter 4 God and Morality Cahn talks about God and how most people think that he is real Although is existence is questioned by many Cahn asks how God is relevant to our lives He brings up the on going debate arguing if murder is immoral One of Cahns point in particular stood out to me Is it wrong because God says its
