Ever since railroads have been around they have made travel transport and trade a lot easier faster and more efficient Since railroads came around in 1804 railroads have grown and expanded through out all of the United StatesRailroads came around in 1804 Various inventors experimented with model roadways until 1825 In 1825 John Stevens built a test track and ran a locomotive around it This showed that it was possible to use railroads as efficient transport The first locomotive to run on a rail track was built in 1804 then inventors went off of that model to better improve railroadsThe Baltimore and Ohio railroad opened in 1827 Other railroads soon opened after it including the Camden and Amboy in 1832 The first successful venture carrying goods from Quincy Massachusetts to Boston in 1827 Railroads soon became popular because they were a quick cheap and mostly safe way of carrying people and goodsIn 1830-1860 enormous railway buildings were being built in the States Railroads soon replace canals as a primary mode of transportation Some years later George Fullman transformed regular supply trains into comfortable passenger trains In 1869the first public locomotives were made available to the public people As train and rail services improved it became possible for people to go on a seaside or a country holiday for example Soon railroads replaced canals and became an important way of travelingThe benefits of railroads were the speed and efficiency that trains provided in trade and transportation What used to take week s and even months now with trains this could be done fast and could take hours or mere days Supplies traveled faster and so did mail Families could travel across the country to see each otherThe cons of having railroads is that they are expensive and difficult to build and maintain Also when they are about to be built it causes the displacement of many people and their homes
