The sport film Hoosiers takes place in a small rural town of Indiana Norman Dale an outsider who is haunted by his previous coaching past is invited to the town of Hickory to be a high school teacher and a basketball coach Dale is time and again faced with struggles Many of the townspeople do not trust his coaching style and there are only a few players on his team due to a small enrollment at the school Due to these major issues Dale is almost voted from his coaching position at a town meeting Dale manages to overcome his obstacles and develop an unstoppable team I choose this movie because of my basketball history I grew up with basketball as a part of my life and it is extremely important to me My family is basketball orientated so I would easily relate with many of the players From the coaches perspective I can see the struggle and sympathise He is doing what he believes in and is persistent in what he thinks is right This is an attribute I hope to someday have I look up to him because he is not afraid of sticking to his gut rather than bowing out and giving up The key themes that I am going to elaborate on are coachteacherparent behaviour love and leadership and natural talent versus hard work SummaryNorman Dale an unemployed fifty year old man who is expelled from the NCAA for hitting one of his own players is requested by an old friend Cletus to teach and coach basketball at a small high school in Milan Indiana Dale seizes this opportunity although he has not coached in over a decade This small town is comprised of individuals who are hard-working religious and passionate about basketball Dale is approached with citizens saying this is a place where
