Five college level courses one foreign language course extracurricular activities these are all part of my busy daily schedule As you can imagine these classes can be stressing at the age of sixteen Too much pressure from my teachers too much homework too much class work Too much of everything Thanks to my counselor who decided to put me in AVID I am able to handle most of the things described above Aside from controlling the stress and the amount of work I have to do AVID has helped me on being an organized person The three inch AVID binder has helped me in keeping up with everything I do in each and every class I keep one subjects notes in one section Another subjects notes in another section By doing this I have really kept up with whats going on during class most of the time This also allows me to look back and study a topic the teacher talked about months earlier I can really and honestly say AVID is a class of self improvementOur AVID teacher Christina Schield has played many roles in my AVID family She has been a police officer taking up our phones when using them a counselor when asked for advice a motherly like figure when we cant speak of a certain topic at home a teacher a personal and educational teacher She as a personal teacher has taught us to be the best we can and make the best out of every single minute we live In my particular case she has been someone who at any given time gives me emotional and spiritual strength As an educator she has taught us organizing ourselves respecting each other growing love towards the people we strongly dislike Where I am trying to get at here with all of this is that although AVID is a class in school it is also a place where you can connect with others
