What is the relative importance of domestic and foreign affairs in shaping the politics of 1790s The politics and policies in America were morphed by both domestic and foreign affairs during the 1790s while domestic affairs were the more influential When President Washington was running there was much opposition between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton on what the government should become Thomas Jeffersons construction was strictly based on the Constitution and felt that everything in the Constitution should be abided by but policies that would cause an improvement of economy was wanted by Alexander Hamilton Many foreign affairs which appeared in response to past conflicts like problems with Spain also contributed to the making of Americas political system Even presently it is obviously evident that these affairs had a major contribution to Americas politicsHamilton was an influence in most domestic affairs and using his position as Secretary of Treasury he incorporated any plan that he felt was needed even if it caused a buzz Even though his plans repaid the debt the United States let amount over time they caused issues between the North and South His idea to establish a national bank wasnt widely agreed with by the citizens of America and the plan of an establishment went even worse with the governmental leaders This event may have spawned the split-party government which pertained to the two groups the Federalist and the Jeffersonian Republicans They both had different views dealing with the Constitution The Federalist which included Hamilton had a preference for loose construction and the Jeffersonian Republicans like Thomas Jefferson preferred the strict construction and a strict interpretation of Constitution The economic changes that were brought by Hamilton caused many rebellions from American citizens and it contributed to the establishment of the split-party government Thomas Jefferson was able to maintain many of his philosophical views of government but many were also altered He had beliefs in the Republican ideals of laissez faire but
