As Sacco was pushed in to chair a number of straps were attached one by one to each part of his body Sacco cried out in Italian Long Live Anarchy Then quietly he said in English Farewell my wife my children and all my friends As the electrocutioner reached for the switch Sacco last word was MAMA and then he fell silent Vanzetti upon reaching the death chamber declared that he is innocent never committed any crime and he thanked everyone for what they did for him He shook hands with the guards warden and prison doctor As Vanzetti was being strapped to the chair and they were preparing for the electrocution Vanzetti said his last words that he want to forgive those people who are responsible for this The warden gave the signal to send the electric current through his body his last shrieks were heard Linder 10 This all began one afternoon of April 15th 1920 when a paymaster and his guard carrying 15776 through the main street of South Braintree Massachusetts were robbed and killed Three weeks later on May 5th 1920 two Italian immigrants named Sacco and Vanzetti fell in to police trap that have been set for a suspect in Braintree crime Both men were self- proclaimed anarchist and neither man had any criminal record in the past To prove their innocence they hired a radical lawyer from California named Fred Moore Without Moores effort Sacco and Vanzetti wouldnt be known except to a few Linder 3-4 This case was one of the most intense political repressions in American history and in 1927 they were executed Despite the overwhelming support and all the evidence that pointed to their innocence Sacco and Vanzetti were wrongfully executed for a crime they never committedThe evidences that were presented were a gun belonging to Vanzetti and a hat which was claimed to be of Saccos but in reality none of these evidences were strong
