"This is a solid draft that puts you in a good place to start thinking about the final stages of the writing process. First, however, I'd like to check if your prompt allows reference to outside sources, which I think will help enhance the dissection of the animal symbols: the current analysis of some don't go deeper than describing what the animal is, leading the reader in a circle. The pelican discussion is a good example of a successful analysis: finding a specific and grounded explanation of the symbolism and drawing direct connections. (The pelican is also a Christ symbol, with the blood being freely given--I'm curious how this can be put into the conversation to deepen your thesis.)

At the level of lower-order concerns, watch out for correct formatting of titles and punctuation within and around the parenthetical citations. As a final note, include your thesis in the introduction rather than "revealing" the ultimate conclusion at the end. The thesis tells the reader how to approach the body discussion and evidence, making for a more attentive audience for your ideas."
