How are values important in our lives and how does that affect our behavior Values are more present in our lives than what we may notice They can shape how we think and what we do on a daily basis This is why it is important to acknowledge values and how they make a contribution in any life It is important to reflect on our values referring to written works that help us recognize where it is that we stand as humans I found a number of values in Adam Smiths work The first value is that of self interest In reality one is always looking for their best interests The fact that self interest is a value it relates to the value of depending on others in a value system The reason this is is because one needs to depend on others to get what they want or in other words act upon their self interest When it comes to depending on others other values stem from this and again relate to one another in a value system because without relying on each other one value by itself really has no way of becoming The values that stem from depending on others are exchanges and benefits When one depends on someone else exchanges take place Depending on someone requires that person to depend on you for an exchange In other words people depend on each other because they each have something that the other person may lack This concludes with the value of receiving benefits From having ones self interest one relies on someone else for an exchange that brings benefits which can be gaining what one wants How well do we understand what we think of Comprehension is a value presented in John Lockes written work Locke seeks to explain how we understand our own ideas or how well we misunderstand them His seeking to explain this ties to the value of comprehension
