AbstractThe US health care system has undergone changes due to the PatientProtection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 which is to become effectivein 2014 This paper is an analysis of the current health care systems inthe US Japan and Netherlands We are going to be looking at thecurrent systems in place how they are financed private publicfinancing The types of providers that are prominent in each countrygeneralist or specialist and current health care spending statistics Inanalyzing these systems we can compare it to the current US system andsee if there are some concepts that will help alleviate current issuesin the US health care system Ultimately the goal is to learn from allor one of these countries health care systemmodels and see if the UScan benefit from it We are yet to see how the ACA of 2010 will affectthe health care system and our country IntroductionThe health care system in the United States is very different to healthcare systems in other countries Shi Singh 2012 stated One mainfeature of the US health care system is that it is fragmented becausedifferent people obtain health care through different means p2 Unlike many other countries the US healthcare system does not havecentralized agency that governs it According to the World HealthOrganization The US is the only industrialized country that does notensure that all citizens have some kind of health insurance coverageresulting in a significant high uninsured rate of 167 percent of thepopulation-or 507 million residents in 2009as cited in SmithWertheimer Fincham 2013 p32 Due to the Affordable Care Act of2010 which will go into effect in 2014 he US health care system isgoing in a different direction This research paper will be looking atan overview of health care systems in United States Japan and theNetherlands Can the United States learn and benefit from the systemsimplemented in these other countries United States health care system As previously stated in the United States health care
