Through out my whole life I went on knowing that culture to me signified they way I was raised and how what was wrong wasnt good and what was right is good I remember in elementary school there was always culture week and we would bring food in to show people our different types of culture As I saw the different types of foods I realized that we are all different by ethnicity and color but we are all equal Bringing the food in that week showed all of us that we are equal within Our culture lets us define who we are and how we are all similar Everyone is different in this society but we all can relate to the way we are raised because of our culture Culture means the shared way of life The anthropologist definition is culture is the sum total of human kinds ideas and mechanism for the survival of the species Culture can also be described by material culture which is mechanism or non-material which is an idea The body of knowledge is the start of away of surviving if it doesnt work its rejected in survival It is made up of the things that make us survive A list of this that makes up a culture is called Norms Norms is the behavior done by the majority According to Professor Solomon he concludes that norms can be described with a bell curve A bell cure has a tail and outliers than right in the middle is the majority Norms have two different meanings one is socially expected behavior and second Mor necessary for survival More is one of the way norms is described as well as taboos Taboos are necessary for survival as well There are four different universal taboos which are 1st Homicide murder 2nd incest making love to a brother or uncle 3rd treason betraying your own country and 4th
