The Great Depression was one of the hardest times America has gone through as a country Many people struggled to get by in the horrible economy and it caused many people a lot of suffering One person did a great job at pushing through these rough times and his name was James Braddock James Braddock was considered a hero during this time period because of his exceptional character America was a nightmare during the 1930s because of the Great Depression Most families struggled to get by due to the economy Many people could not afford living the most simple life Families lost kids because parents couldnt afford them With banks failing and businesses closing more than 15 million Americans one-quarter of the work force became unemployed PBS 1 James Braddock was trying to strive in a boxing career during this time but it was very difficult because he lost his job at one point He was one of the millions of unemployed men struggling to get by He still pushed through these times by showing exceptional character inside and outside of the boxing ring James Braddock did a perfect job at being a role model for his kids Even with all the other horrible things going on in his life he still took the time to raise his kids in the proper way He was talking to his daughter about stealing and one quote really stuck out to me You cant be stealing no matter how hard the times may seem Stealing is never the answer Braddock He taught all his kids these important life lessons James took the time out of his difficult life to spend plenty of time with his kids He had a great loving relationship with his family and he always put them first That task alone takes a true hero to do James did his best to supply for his family and his kids did their best to support
