Everyone has a unique style of writing in which we merge our ideas into a particular style that appeals to us Steinbeck was one man that incorporated his interest in animals and the slang of his time into his work He weaved his words into a wonderful book that has been recognized by thousands around the world His book is a unique work of literature as it takes the reader through a story using a variety of mechanical devices and writing methods to give the story its thrill of adventure He walked heavily dragging his feet a little the way a bear drags his paws pg 2 Lennie dabbled his big paw in the water pg 3 Drank with long gulps snorting into the water like a horse pg 3 Her body flopped like a fish pg 91 He came as silently as a creeping bear moves pg 100 Curleys pants is crawlin with ants pg 51 Curly stepped over to Lennie like a terrier pg 62 He went into great detail to describe the setting and characters in his story which makes this story easy to convert into a play During the beginning of the story he described the scene as peaceful and relaxing untouched by mans urge for modernization He described the characters from head to toe mainly with clothes size and intelligence He repeats this method throughout the book with each chapter he describes the new scene with the same amount of detail All characters important to the plot are described in detail which perhaps explains the actions taken by that character Throughout the story he used dialogue extensively the reader must gather the information from the dialogue rather than collecting it from the narrator As the characters communicate with one another they give tidbits of information providing the reader with information about them and their destination The reader can pick up information concerning the dreams and hopes of
