Junk food is one of the leading causes to obesity in this world today Its fast its easy and its cheap so of course consumers are going to buy it So to encourage healthier eating I think taxes should be raised on all junk foodsJunk food has no nutritional value and is overall just bad for anyones health So if you up the prices on junk foods and lower the prices of healthy foods then more of the population would be encouraged to start eating healthy Its just like the sin tax where they upped the price on unhealthy substances like cigarettes and alcohol which proved to be very effective lowering the amount of people who smoke by 20 to 25 percent Pediatric Cardiologist Arthur Garson from the University of Virginia even stated that we are killing 100000 people per year so something needs to be done meaning people are dying from obesity and other heart problems caused by the unhealthy foods they are putting in their bodies Some people would argue that junk food taxes are unfair because the poor families would get hit the hardest In the long run though they would actually be saving money by purchasing and preparing their own food at home instead of always going to the dollar menu at McDonalds Not only that they would be saving themselves a lot of chronic health problems in the future Child obesity starts in the home as well so if the parents are always buying junk food and drinking soda then of course the child adopts those habits and will do the sameSo should taxes be raised on all junk foods 56 percent of American citizens say yes and 44 percent say no Im with the percent that say yes because there is no long term satisfaction from eating unhealthy and its just making Americans lazy Everyone will still have their freedom of choice theyll just have to pay more for
