Coming into senior year everything I expected turned out to be the complete opposite No one warns students of the amount of stress one is put under and that is in reference to an ordinary senior For me dealing with this Capstone project just felt like another ten thousand pounds added to the weight already on my shoulders Little did I know that this Capstone project would change everything I thought I wanted and everything I believed I was An eye opening experience it helped me create a path that I would follow for the next four years of my lifeMy interest for this profession sprouted from my sister who later became my mentor throughout this process She had recently finished the DMS program herself at Platt A major plus for me I had a chance to really get into the reality of the program and career that I had chosen to pursue Speaking to her over the months of senior year she had given me a look into what Id be getting myself into Explaining that it was deeper than just imaging internal organs as a DMS everything is up to the technician Being the main diagnoser the responsibility is put on their shoulders Over the summer and into senior year I was given the opportunity to volunteer as a practice patient for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Platt College As I lay on the table for the two to three hours every day I got to see first-hand the passion and patients these students needed and had It made me question if I truly had the dedication for this career Would I be successful in this profession The experience revealed my fear of failure and self-doubt The more I continued to volunteered I concluded that I had everything it took to have a rewarding career and the only thing standing in my way was myself After months of research volunteer work and
