Monrovia Liberia where my grandparents live I miss dearly When I was young my grandparents taught me to read Now reading brings back memories of my grandparents and Liberia In my grandparents house there was a lot of educational literature from the Liberia literature book called the Queer African Reader The African reader taught me about the Liberian design for making things like African shoes and clothing In the house there was other literature too such as storybooks bookshelves and bedtime poems on the walls called The Dreams and The Start My grandparents read to me every night before going to bed That I loved and enjoyed I felt very loved and special having my grandparents reading to me every night before going to bed Most children do not have the opportunity to have their grandparents read to them On the bookshelves there were tons of storybooks that my grandparents taught me how to read from I remember one of the books was called Jack and Jill but my favorite was the Disney story for kids I remember it was the first book my grandparents taught me to read and write from at the ages of four and At the age of seven I was able to read the Disney story for kids all by myself and wrote my own story of what I read for my grandparents Have you ever experienced a place that you never wanted to leave Leaving my grandparents house to come to the United States was one of the most difficult choices for me because I knew that I would not be able to go back to visit them anytime soon I probably will not see them or their house again I have not been back to Liberia but I still have memories of my grandparents teaching me how to read and write there Although I did not want
