AbstractThis Independent Research Project paper was prepared to discuss in detail the legislation and Ministry of Environment requirements of Wastewater Treatment Plants Effluents in Ontario With the constant increase in Ontarios population it was thought that an in depth report should be done to examine the effluents that these plants give off and its impact in Ontarios fresh water lakes This is a significant topic because it is certainly connected to the health and well-being of both human beings and animals that rely on water Even though wastewater treatment plants have multiple sections and processes only those that pertain to the effluent will be included discussed and explained the emphasis of this paper will examine the Region of Peels Lakeview Wastewater Treatment Plant in Mississauga and Lake Ontario but the findings in this report can also be a reflection of other Wastewater Treatment plants in Ontario AcknowledgmentsAchieving this Civil Engineering Advanced Diploma is another step forward in my life another step towards lifelong success But success does not come easily and without sacrifice With the support of my family I left Trinidad and Tobago to further my education Im grateful that I got this opportunity to come to Canada and acquire such knowledge and experience that Humber College has given to me I would like to thank firstly my family for supporting me throughout the good and rough times of my schooling Id like to thank my professors in the Civil Engineering program especially professors Frank Mee Shawn Cleary my Lab Instructor Joe Markovic and also Laura without them I would have been lost and confused on how to complete this Independent Technical Project I would also like to extent my gratitude to my close friends Kaileigh Russell and Kimberly Seed for devoting their time to help me complete this paper IntroductionWith the increase in Ontarios population wastewater treatment plants must be constantly monitoring their effluents and ensuring that they are following the Ministry of
