One time while i was still in elementary school around eight years oldmy after-school program and I went to these caves I could not containmy excitement the whole bus ride there I was also kind of scaredbecause I was about to go underground I wasnt too scared because assoon as we got into the caves they asked for volunteers I do not thinkI have ever raised my hand so fast The guides gave us a safety ruleslecture and then they sent a few of us to crawl in these tunnels withinthe cave All we had was a small flashlight to light up the wholetunnel which were very small The guide handed me my flashlight and Istarted to crawl into the dark mysterious tunnel It was most likelythe most exciting thing I had done up that point in my life I turned onmy flashlight got down on my hands and knees and started on myadventure Give or take about five minutes went by and my flashlightstarted to flicker An enormous wave of panic washed over me what if Iget stuck what if there is so kind of animal i here what if itcollapses and mainly how am I supposed to get out I yelled back to myguide and the teachers and they told me to crawl back out So i had tocrawl backwards because I was too scared to try and crawl the rest ofthe way through to the end of the tunnel My experience in the tunnelallowed me to understand the emotions the the men felt in The thingsthey Carried when they picked for tunnel duty I understand the fearthey felt the impending sense of doomMy family has a permanent campsite in Glenbeulah which is about and houraway from here Three summers ago i basically lived there and one nighti was walking around with one of friends and I met this boy Tyler andhis cousin Tyler and his cousin joined my friend and i
