There are these two young fish swimming along and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way who nods at them and says Morning boys hows the water And the two young fish swim on for a bit and then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes What the hell is water Everyday these fish are swimming in water but yet they dont know what it is I wonder how is that possible how could you be unsure about life if your living it every day Maybe because every day you get up and do the same thing you dont think youre living because nothing changes or because there isnt anything extravagant or out of the ordinary that occurs But the simplicity of your days is really what life is its just that you overlook it because you cant see that your everyday routine has meaning behind it If youre worried that I plan to present myself here as the wise old fish explaining what water is please dont be I am not the wise old fish Wallace isnt trying to trying to teach you lifes lessons but he is trying to show you the reality of what life beholds such as the little things Its going to work every day studying for test eating dinner with your family and laughing with your friends It was even the two young fishes swimming in water together These are the moments that make up your lifeLife is more than you think it is its not just wanting but what it takes for you to achieve your goals There those sleepless nights early mornings long days the hard work and all the trials and tribulations and finally succeeding For instance that lady and her daughter that you see every morning on the bus and the elder next door neighbor that greets you every morning those little events affect your life
