Life has many obstacles that we can avoid or not Sometimes its our choice to avoid it or not and sometimes we dont have a choice Nevertheless people have to think and be aware of the results of the decisions they make The story under the title The Vandercook by Alice Mattison is considered to be a highly philosophical and deeply psychological literary work It touches upon a lot of situations which are common in peoples everyday life People always make mistakes in their life either serious or minor ones Mattison shows in the story that learning from mistakes depends on people themselves whether they accept the mistakes measure them and from them so they can avoid falling in mistakes in the futureIrrespective of personal desires there are always unexpected situations in peoples life Consequently people should make decisions which could change their life Lorenzos father ran a very prosperous printing firm The firm was a great success Once however Lorenzos father had a heart attack after which he felt bad Nevertheless he decided to sell his printing shop to feel free independent and have no obligations However there are always people who pretend to own the property of other people Molly Lorenzos wife did not want to sell the shop and persuaded her husband not to sell it Lorenzo could not understand why Molly did not want to sell the printing shop She was good at marketing software and could do well without the printing shop The same was true about Lorenzo who could earn living by writing poems However Molly had very poor relations with her boss and soon she was left without work Probably this served as a reason why she did not want to sell the shop Regardless of the fact that Lorenzo wanted to sell the shop he was happy that they did not sell it because he was fond of writing poems and could then print them there
