Religious persecution has always been present in our historyOne of the most prominent examples of this would be the radicalizationof Islam particularly the conflict of the Arab government of the northand the non-Arab south in the country of Sudan Tensions due to thisissue have caused much disparity in the past and once more escalated toan extreme in 1983 causing the Second Sudanese Civil War During thisatrocious event almost 30000 Sudanese children were left orphaned andhomeless and forced to find their way to safety in the form of refugeecamps through whatever means necessary These young boys had to sufferthrough hunger thirst exhaustion disease and other adversities inorder to find an escape from the horrors of war present in theirhomeland For many this voyage proved too treacherous and several didnot have the fortune of completing their journey towards a new life Forthose who managed to survive and reach safety at the arms of Aidorganizations they were given a new opportunity to start again Theywould be capable to start anew in a land where tyranny and disasterwould be a thing of the past and they would not fear for their liveseveryday 1 America Many of these Lost Boys as they became known wererelocated to several parts of America To these Lost Boys America wasthe ideal location to live in It offered great opportunitieseducation and freedom from oppression When an airplane passed bySudan children were taught that they were giant flying metal birdsthat were on its way to the land of AmericaDeng and Salz It wasengraved in their culture that this land was where one could make alldreams come alive where the best kind of people lived the best kind oflife It is where food and water are never far from ones reach and thequality of life is fit for a king America was the
