Fear is a feeling that causes people to run away from said thing Love is a feeling that draws you closer to the thing you love But according to Machiavellis The Prince it is better to be feared than loved This is true in many cases around the time The Prince was written Although in The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins its is better to be loved than to be feared Because of love Katniss was able to defeat the Capitol win in the games and have the help from Peeta throughout the whole seriesWhen you are hated it causes the people who hate you to take action in order to not have to deal with you anymore In The Hunger Games the Capitol is hated which leads the districts to revolt Gale one of the main instigators is constantly talking about how much he hates the Capitol In the first book Gale asks Katniss Leave the district Run off Live in the woods You and I we could make itPage 9 Book 1 Gale is defying the Capitol by trying to get Katniss to leave with him so that they do not have live under the Capitols rules anymore Later in the series Gale states If the Capitol wins what will it do with a bunch of damaged slavesPage 98 Book 3 Gale would rather kill injured people than see people seek the Capitol out for help This shows that he does not want the Capitol to have any feeling of importance towards the survival of the people who did not die Eventually in book three Katniss is beginning to get angry at the Capitol and says And if we burn you burn with usPage 100 Book 3 This is directly stated towards President Snow She is angry at the Capitol for bombing an innocent hospital and is trying to scare the Capitol into thinking that the districts are the only way
