In my life I have had my share of ramen both good and bad I have tasted my own ramen and I have tasted the ramen of other people However I have never given much thought to the process of making ramen At most it takes ten minutes and is not considered an extensively laborious process But do not underestimate the making of ramen although short it requires precision and a sharp mind Cooking time water ratio and extra ingredients can make all the difference in a bowl of ramen Cooking time is a crucial factor in making good ramen If boiled for too long the noodles will turn out overcooked and limp If not boiled long enough the noodles will feel chewy and slightly crunchy and the eaters jaw will tire from the chewing exercise Some people may give you a specific length of time to cook it for but that almost never works because each pot of ramen has its differences One day while leisurely watching television with my brother I heard a grumble in my stomach and decided to make a pot of ramen After tossing in all of the necessary ingredients and setting the pot to boil I went upstairs to laze around a bit while waiting for my ramen to finish cooking However my bed cushioned me a bit too well and I accidentally drifted into a light slumber accompanied by dreams of tasty ramen dancing around my head I woke up fifteen minutes later and realizing that my ramen still boiled on the fire raced downstairs By then all the moisture in my ramen had evaporated and I looked down at a desolate pot of dry salty noodles with no soup From then on I never again left my ramen to fend for itself against fire The second most important factor to consider when making ramen is the water ratio My most consistent failures from making ramen come from
