Increase in demand for energy depletion of conventional energy source like petroleum and concern about global climate change have led to the development of alternative energy sources which may replace current sources for transportation fuel In response of that The United States Department of Energy and European Union are developing their scenario for replacing biofuel with other transportation fuel Most of the future biorefineries is working on a process which produce biofuel from lignocellulosic feedstock These feedstocks are converted into bioethanol through pretreatment hydrolysis fermentation and distillation From past decade literature has done an extensive work to find out most substantial pretreatment process and they find acid pretreatment is most reliable among all the pretreatment process for particularly for production of bioethanol from lignocellulosic feedstock Based on the that analysis National Renewable Energy Laboratory NREL is doing a rigorous analysis on these processes and has developed a model in ASPEN Plus for the same process by using Corn Stover as a feedstock With the help same model which are easily available on NREL database yield is calculated for ten random sample with uniform distribution of 25 with mean composition of lignocellulosic feedstock Results are demonstrate in the last section which shows the effect of feedstock composition on yield and a relationship between theoretical and actual yield IntroductionIncrease in demand for energy depletion of conventional energy source like petroleum and concern about global climate change have led to the development of alternative energy sources which may replace current sources for transportation fuel The potential renewable sources of energy include biomass wind solar and hydro Out of these biomass has certain advantages due to its relatively stable and consistent supply as well as the possibility of converting it into fuels that can readily fit in the existing transportation infrastructure In response many countries have initiated extensive research in biofuels as a sustainable energy resource1 The United States Department of Energy and European Union
