Morals are defined as a persons standards of behavior or beliefs concerning what are and are not acceptable for them to do For most men gentlemanliness and chivalry are regarded as the highest virtues for a man to have Societys morals and values change throughout the course of time Two people that meet each other from different time periods as short as a decade apart might not see eye to eye on many things even if they have gone through many of the same experiences through the courses of their lives How society sees others and acts towards them makes up what it is and therefore the values and morals The ones in society that people regard as righteous or of outstanding character look down upon those who are viewed as immoral or crude Morality is by definition relative to who you are and what you believe Aunt Alexandra and Bob Ewell are very different from this aspect in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee but Lee displays them both in a manner that can be conceived as morally justified in other words ones paradigm determines whether an action is ethicalHarper Lee makes Aunt Alexandra out to be a woman who is very conservative in her convictions and one who always follows them creating an image of virtue In her mind morality at least for a girl is wearing dresses not running around and sitting and talking quietly about others behind their backs She desperately wants Scout to act proper and throughout the novel makes several attempts to make Scout do what she wants her to Aunt Alexandra was one of the last of her kind she had river-boat boarding-school manners let any moral come along and she would uphold it she was an incurable gossip given the slightest chance she would exercise her royal prerogative she would arrange advise caution and warnLee 131 This quote reveals some of Aunt Alexandras qualities
