As a little girl I loved to dance Down the aisles at Wal-Mart at church anywhere I was always dancing At the age of four I began participating in dance classes at Irby Dance Studio Each year I enjoyed dance more and more and it grew to become my second home Beginning my junior year of high school and continuing into my senior year I started volunteering at the studio I would help teach classes or sit behind the desk and answer the phone When I think about my most significant leadership experience volunteering at the dance studio stands out the most The impact it had on me is tremendous Helping teach is something that I look forward to every week It is not about dancing it is about seeing the joy on the little girls faces while they dance What the little girls dont know is that while I teach them how to dance they teach me how to be a better person People learn on different levels some learn faster while others learn slower Patience is not something that comes natural to me but slowly through dance I have become a more patient person Volunteering also taught me how to be more responsible The owners of the dance studio count on me each week to be there and to be on time Being punctual is an important life characteristic that I will need throughout my life for college purposes job purposes and various appointments
