One may define dance as the movement of a persons feet and body usually accompanied by music To me however dance means more than that Dance is an art involving grueling practices calluses on your feet sore muscles bedazzled costumes first-place trophies and lots of aggressive competition I have been pointing my toes and tapping my feet since the age of two At the age of six I competed in my first competition Dance is everything to me My high school experience was just like a dance routineThe ninth grade is just like the start of my routine My high school career now begins I have all the energy and excitement in the world I pose and wait for the music to begin As the melody plays I put myself out there and make a statement I ace my tests join clubs and interact with new people I stretch my feet close my ribcage tighten my abdominal muscles and listen to the lyrics of the music I catch the attention of my teachers and fellow classmates exactly how I catch the attention of an audience at a show My straight-As come as easy as my exuberant faces and pointed toes do The first thirty seconds of my dance breeze by as does the ninth grade By the minute mark and the tenth grade I am into the dance and into my character I have my group of friends I made relationships with my teachers and I am known for my spectacular grades I feel the droplets of sweat dripping down my body from working so hard I enjoy myself as I know the hardest part has yet to come In the blink of an eye I am dancing the moves in the middle of my routine and entering the eleventh grade Junior year and the middle of my routine challenge me I suffer from mononucleosis just like I suffer from an asthma attack on stage
