Mami its Buppies she screamed There she sat on our brown sofawith her knees up to her chin She is wearing her faded hot pink BubbleGuppies shirt Her soft curly brown hair pulled into two puffball pigtails The smell of sour cream and cheddar potato chips radiating offher breathe She is crunching away in between singing I wanna be acowgirl Her laugh is menacing like she is plotting something grandAs I watch her a feeling of adoration over comes me Milinda is myfavorite person in the world because she is my only daughter she is aperfect combination of both my husband and myself and she worries abouther brothers endlessly I like to think of Milinda as my surprise baby I had my son almost 4years before giving birth to her After four years I was sure I was notgoing to have another child then 2 days after my birthday I get thenews that I was pregnant again I wish and hoped for a little girlThere are only boys in her generation of grandchildren so the outcomeof a girl was a big deal My family went wild with excitement when thereceived a copy of my ultra sound showing her hamburger as they callit Then twenty-two months after her birth I gave birth to anotherlittle boy Milinda is my only little girl She is the only one I get toput in a dress the only ones nails who I can paint and the only oneshair who I can braid I only get to do to girly things with herwhich makes our bond a little closer then the bonds I have with my sons When you have a child you wish for it to have all of your goodattributes but none of your flaws Milinda is a perfect blend of bothdaddy and mommy Her father dark skinned and tall her mother lightskinned and average height She has an olive tone and is not as tall asmost girls
