The turf is of brighter hue the hills glow with a richer purple the varnish of holly and ivy is more glossy I never in my life saw anything more beautiful -Thomas Macaulay 19th century historian describing Ireland If you could ever fly over Ireland you would know why its called the Emerald Isle Looking down you would see rolling farmlands that resemble quilts lush meadows and pastures filled with grazing livestock and tree covered mountains filled with green grandeur You wouldnt only see green though Ireland is surrounded by clear blue ocean and filled with sparkling blue lakes that shimmer throughout the island There is 27136 square miles of pure beauty The climate is just as great as the land Summers are cool and winters are warm The temperature in the summer averages to about 60F and the winters are about 40F There is rarely snow and when there is its beautiful One of the most important things to Ireland is its exports and natural resources Some are barely potatoes The most important exports are dairy products livestock alcoholic beverages chemicals machinery paper processed food and textiles Those are just a few of many recourses and exports Holidays are very important to the Irish The most important holidays are St Brigids Day February 1st St Patricks Day
