Growing up my mother never had a table her whole family could sit at together Because my mothers home was so small she had a small kitchen table that sat two people My mother told my siblings and I stories about when she was little her parents sat at the table to eat dinner while my mom and her brothers sat in a circle on the floor to When my parents got married the very first thing they bought together was a large dining room table one that would be big enough and expand for a large family For twenty five years now our dining room table has always been a very important part of my family Many special and important family memories have all happened around this table My familys dining room table stands nearly three and a half feet off the ground with four wooden round black legs On all sides of the table top there is a rope-like pattern engraved into the wood The table top is a natural wood color and is mostly smooth with some worn imperfections engraved into the polished wood The six chairs placed around the table have round legs and round back rests On each chair the left and right sides of the legs are held together with beams for support Most of the pillars are now broken because when my siblings and I were little we used the beams as step stools to climb onto the chairs The seats on the chairs are also a natural wood color Over the past several years this beautiful table has beIn grade school my siblings and I would come home and complete our homework at our dining room table while mom stood by for help When my little brother was in fourth grade he had trouble with spelling words He even got so frustrated that his occasionally his face started to turn red Struggling to spell he began pressing
