On 7th to 11th January I along with some of my classmates went to Wood Norton in Worcestershire Wood Norton is a BBC academy in which both technical and engineering training is provided for staff from many different UK broadcasters We were enrolled in a course as part of our Media Production degree in our Television Production module in order to give us experience in working in a television studio The studio that we worked in was set up like a real TV studio with a sound gallery production gallery and studio floor as well as a remote studio located in the room next door In the week that we were at Wood Norton our main tasks were to create a news programme and a quiz show both of which were filmed as live to give us experience of working at a demanding live television production studio Figure 2Figure 2Figure 1Figure 1For the quiz show we were split into three groups and had to create and produce a 20 minute quiz show creating questions which included sound bites visual images and mime artists as well as standard questions For this task my job was the Production Assistant also known as the PA figure 1 The PAs job is to assist the production of the show mainly following orders from the director My main job was making sure everything was running on time which included calling out on regular intervals when the show was set to be recorded informing the director when particular rounds were running over and adjusting timings to later rounds to fit in with the 20 minutes allocated time This of course meant I had to be good at time management keeping an eye on the clock at all times to make sure that everything was running on time Because I had to organise the length of the rounds and adjust them accordingly when necessary I needed good organisation skills I was also
