For my field research I decided to do my research on Internet addiction I choose to do it on Internet addiction because there are millions of people out there that are addicted to the Internet and they have an alter ego life via Internet These people do not go out and socialize with real people They choose to have a second life and they are so caught up in it they dont even know it They are on it so much that they lose sleep because they spend so much time online and they often stay up late The Symptoms of an Internet addict are neglecting friends family and job lying or concealing how much time they spend online sleep deprivation and irritability when attempting to stop using the Internet A lonely person is most likely to become an Internet addict because the cyber world offers a substitute for real social life So they tend to forget that there is really a life out there So they spend endless amount of hours on the net and they are sucked into it Some internet addicts are addicted to online sex there online they can have sex with another online sex age looks does not matter on the internet because you wont be able to see the person anyhow This is called cybersex it is completely anonymous and they can assume any role they want Some are addicted to online casinos that offer virtual gambling on the Internet They enter their credit card number and select which game they would like to play they can wager how much they want just like in a real casino Ive learned that people with Internet addiction not only behave differently they think differently They have obsessive thoughts about the Internet and feel as though the Internet is their only friend There is the feeling that Internet is the only place where they
