The first time I ever walked into my very first apartment all Isaw were wonderfulthings that I loved From the big open livingroom to the oversized closets to the adorable window from thekitchen to the dining room every room seemed better than thelast Even our two dogs could come with us and it was in areally good location My boyfriend and I decided it was perfectplace and moved in immediatelyUnfortunately we picked a less than perfect weekend in Julywith sweltering heat and air so humid you could hardly breatheso moving for us was more than exhausting Climbing up and downand up and down twelve stairs my feet feeling heavier with eachstep I took No sooner did we set down our last boxes when weheard a painfully loud whine from our one and only airconditioning unit Thankfully our faith in our new apartmentwas soonrestored Our scruffy looking maintenance man was atour door only hours later on his golf cart with a new airconditionerThe first couple of months there were not bad I woke up everymorning with the sun streaming in so lightly through the spacesinthe blinds went to my perfectly lit bathroom with a tri-foldmirror vanity to get ready in front of and stepped into mywalk-in closet to pick my clothes The kitchen was small butseemed just fine for the two of us Plus it had a dishwasher aluxuryI did not enjoy at my parents houseand the large livingroom could not be more perfect Its big bright windows andenough space for a couch recliner and a desk As time went onthe excitement of living on our own wore off I missed havingmy mom around toclean up after me and making me do things Ididnt want to but needed to All the shiny newness was goneand now we were here in our plain Jane apartmentSummer Ticknor 2I began to see things differently throughout my day I woke upto the sun beaming through my eyelids as soon
