On a hot summers day in August I headed down to Norfolk Virginia to begin my training as a Midshipman here at the Hampton Roads NROTC My stomach was filled with butterflies as well as eagerness I was so anxious to see what we would be doing or more along the lines of what I had gotten myself in too The First hour was normal driving and blasting the radio like I usually do singing along without a thought running through my head only music lyrics My mother drove down with me The conversation was minimal considering I had the music playing at a somewhat loud level I looked out the window periodically and just stared at all my surroundings It is a tendency I have when I go on car rides especially elongated ones Peering out in to nature helps begin my thought process so at that moment I begin to stare out in the nature of my surroundings The Second hour I began to think The year before I had gone to training it was fun and easy in my opinion but was this similar to that Will it be fun and easy Or will it be the real deal I was soon to find out So many questions running through my mind like a track star trying to win the big race The third hour is when the nerves appeared The thoughts in my head became louder as the music slowly began to become lower and drift away As we approach Williamsburg I feel more nerves than before As we get closer and closer to our destination my nerves build up higher and higher The car ride is very silent considering my mother and I dont talk much The final hour all the thoughts came rushing like a waterfall in the rainforest We
