I attended the senior recital of David Neill in Bellarmine Universitys theatre on April 25th The recital was of David playing his String Bass and five other guys who played the trumpet trombone drums alto saxophone and piano The recital included eight songs that David chose to play during his last recital The theme of the recital was Spanish music Watching David Neill play the String Bass was really interesting and entertaining to watch and listen to The sound of the String Bass was really relaxing and eased the mind It was really neat hearing the different instruments the other guys in the group played come together to form something really unique and something I hadnt heard before All of the songs that the group played sounded really good But the song that stuck out to me was the song Tenderly and the reason why he chose to play the song David decided to play this song in remembrance of grandfather Before he began to play anything he talked about his family and how they encouraged him to play guitar since he was really young He started the song out by playing his electric guitar which was a really neat touch to the piece He then quickly switched back to the String Bass to complete the song while the trumpet and saxophone continued to play Over all it was a really nice arrangement that David put together In between each of the songs during the senior recital David would talk about why he chose to play the certain song and a little background of the group and his life What I thought was really interesting was that David had only been playing String Bass for a few years but yet he was really really good at playing the instrument I also really enjoyed watching him play it too because his fingers ran up and down the strings really quickly and it look impossible to play
