Essay 1 - Contribution to a school community comes in many forms Please tell us how you see yourself contributing to the Choate Rosemary Hall community As I talked to my dad about this first essay question he described my answer as qualities that make me special and will differentiate me from the other candidates One of the first qualities that came to my mind was athletics Athletics are a big part in my life Right now I play two competitiveor club sports volleyball and soccer They are both very important to me but I also understand the reasons why they are not my first priorities family and school always come first When it comes down to sports academics or even games I am a quick learner I am naturally a very competitive person Growing up with two older brothers has taught me to constantly challenge those around me and myself Not many Alaskans are able to travel all the way across the country to attend a boarding school Whether it is too much money or too far I am extremely fortunate to get this chance I would be one of the few Alaskans if any at Choate or in any boarding school in general As I mentioned earlier I grew up with two older brothers who did go off to boarding school and have taught me the many upsides of getting a private school education My whole family has very high educational and athletic expectations My mom went to Duke University and her father went to MIT My dad went to Dartmouth University and both his parents and uncle went to Stanford University Education runs in my family and I would be very lucky to achieve any of the expectations set forth of me My parents always have had faith in each of their kids in any way needed and for that I am very lucky To go to a boarding school especially
