In language learningI feel there are two principles There are the rules and contexts in which the rules apply The rules refer to the grammar and structure of a language The context in which they apply refers to the culture of origin What is the difference between a native speaker and a second language learner Why is it a student who has limitedgrammar and vocabulary maybe be considered more adept than a student who knows every grammar rule and over 600 vocabulary words Language is a medium for communicating ones thoughts Taking this in to consideration we can simplify the world as people in different regions who have created their own methods for communicating their thoughts When learning teaching a language I believe this is a key concept The purpose of learning a language is to learn how to effectively communicate your thoughts to a speaker of the target language This ideal forms the basis of my philosophy of teaching My students will be able to effectively convey their thoughts to a speaker of the English language Not only knowing the language but fully understanding the context in which it is usedTaking A simplified look at the language systems many have similar structures ie S V O S O V or some other variation of the pattern This coupled with an adjective and connector words such as prepositions or conjunctions would create sentences and complete thoughts What makes effectively communicating ideas difficult is a lack of cultural reference and understanding In the past the use of methods such as the grammar translation method or audio lingual method has proved insufficient We then created a combination of the two DMZ Method yet we still find that culture is needed component When one is learning a new language there is a constant comparison with their native language They learn the new language rules and apply it to their native cultural context This is
