Having alcoholic parents will affect a childs life tremendously Growing up on welfare food stamps and child support is never the ideal home for a child to grow up in Always hearing that daddy was wrong when you were with mommy and mommy was wrong when you were with daddy will take a toll on a childs psychological well-being A mother trying to be a friend instead of a loving role-model would confuse any adolescent Being taken away from familiarity and placed into the foster care system at the age of thirteen this is my story Life is always going to present you with difficult challenges but it is up to us whether we are going to let them make us a better or a bitter personThere were countless times where my sister and I would go to the refrigerator and open it just to find multiple cases of beer packed in there If food was in the fridge it wouldnt be edible Our mother and whoever her boyfriend was at the time would still be passed out from the long night of partying so we would resort to eating the aged food that had been in the pantry An instance of this that I remember so clearly was when there was no food in the house except a packet of Ramen Noodles I was too young to know how to cook them so my sister and I had to eat the noodles dry I never once blamed my mother I just thought that this was how life was supposed to be Granted my mom was a young mother she did not get to have those crazy years that most youth look forward too They were taken away from her by my birth when she was only sixteen I used to justify her alcoholism irresponsibility and lack of judgment on that very fact
