Children today spend a lot of time watching television For example my two year old cousin begs us to take her to the park every day but if SpongeBob Squarepants or Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is on she will sit in the middle of the floor watching the program Most children are attracted to colorful lively images not dull dark ones In Mickey Mouse Clubhouse the trees are a dark green with the light blue sky scatted with clouds The characters clothes are shades of bright red blue purple and pink Fish Hooks a show about fish going to high school does not keep children entertained The background is dull and even creepy looking while the characters have no liveliness to them In The Dark Side of the Fish Oscar feels secluded because he does not like bunnies He leaves his friends for a bad group but realizes his true friends are better Fish Hooks is not an effective program due to the cartoon violence the lack of educational information and not keeping the audience entertained An effective childrens program should have minimal cartoon violence When children see violence they think that nothing is wrong with it My two year old cousin watches Disney Channel and Nickelodeon all of the time When she watches other shows that my grandfather watches like Gunsmoke she will try to copy their actions and repeat what she hears Since there is hardly any violence on SpongeBob Squarepants she does not copy his actions When Lilo Stitch came out there was minimal cartoon violence shown Even though there was violence I knew better than to repeat it You children do not understand what is right and what is wrong In Fish Hooks when Razor slapped Oscar to get him to stop talking and read his poem that showed children that it is alright to slap someone in the face There was not only one instance of cartoon violence there were
