Dustin Keller a tight end of the Miami Dolphins tore his ACL PCL and MCL along with dislocating his right knee on a gruesome tackle in a preseason game before the 2013 NFL season This ended his whole season and this happened in the preseason before a regular season game Also this was his first season with the Miami Dolphins as he was brought over from the New York Jets He will not be able to participate in a single regular season game in his first year with his new team An abundance of season ending leg injuries have been occurring from the recent rule changes implemented from the NFL in the last couple of years The National Football League is cracking down on hits to the head and hits on defenseless receivers to further reduce the amount of concussions being sustained by players throughout the NFL This makes the receivers more prone to being tackled down low and near their legs This causes for more leg injuries occurring throughout the league than in the past I believe that these new rules enforcing less hits to the head is more dangerous to these players because the defensive players are starting to tackle low which increases serious season ending injuries to the legs and knees Tight Ends Tony Gonzalez for the Atlanta Falcons and Kellen Winslow Jr from the New York Jets has claimed that they would rather be hit in the head than being hit down by the knees and legs Being tackled especially around the knees is one of the biggest fears by receivers throughout the National Football League Getting hit in the head and obtaining a concussion means that a player will maybe miss a couple of games at the worst However when sustaining a knee injury or leg injury it can mean missing a whole season just as Dustin Keller Brian Cushing Henry Melton MaurkicePouncey Joseph Morgan and Arrelious Benn are all
