I can remember it like it was yesterday It was about eight years ago so I was twelve years old round the time this happened It was a typical hot July summer day for a twelve year old boy until my grandmother called my mother and informed her about a nearby shooting she had just witnessed My grandmother lived right around the corner from us so we heard the gunshots too but we didnt think anything if it because back then we heard gunshots almost daily As I sat in the backseat of the car all I could think about was who it could be was he died and why were they shootingWe arrived on the scene before any law enforcement or the paramedics When we got to my grandmother house we noticed that it was a lot of commotion going on at my grandmother neighbors house because the proclaimed victim was her son Anthony was his name His mother Margaret was in disarray She could not be calmed down The shooting occurred at the corner by my grandmother and Margarets house It took the police so long to arrive on the scene that a crowd had begun to form around Anthonys body with people in disbelief at what they was seeingI dont know what gave me the courage to walk to that corner to join the crowd as they gazed over Anthonys body I guess it was because I was so young and nave But when I made it to the corner I would have never imagine what I had seen Anthony had been shot in the face around the eye area I never knew a bullet could deform the face the way the bullet did Anthonys His right eye had been blown out leaving a bullet hole the size of a quarter in his face Anthony died instantly The gunshot wound left Anthony lying in a puddle of blood with blood still oozing
