A River Runs Through it When two brothers grow up in the same house many questions are asked such as Will the two be the same or will they be different Will either grow up to be successful or will one be a disappointment Will one receive more attention from their parents Will one stray off their fathers path or is it possible for both to stay in line All of these questions are common of parents and people in the boys lives The many questions are answered throughout life The two brothers in A River runs Through it are different because of their need for love in their lives and how they come about getting it their relationship with their father and the difference in their formal education These different paths that Norman and Paul took distinguished the difference between the two of them The two brothers Norman and Paul both need love in their lives Paul was a ladies man he spent his summers as a lifeguard so that woman would surround him Paul was a crowd pleaser he always wanted to be the center of attention Pauls father made a comment I understand the hes changing the spelling of the family name Maclean with a capital L Now everyone will think that were lowland Scotts This is a perfect example of Paul getting attention for love He wanted love so badly that he would go around from one person to another to try to find happiness He rarely came about it Norman on the other hand knew that he was love dearly by his family and that one day he would find his true love Until then he would try to make himself a better man Love was very important in his life but he knew that it was there for him The love the two got was from different places and from such different ways
