In Why We Crave Horror Movies by Steven King the author writes about why we as people enjoy horror movies He states that we all want and need to watch horror movies He talks about the want to see others in danger or hurt but to know it isnt real Watching horror movies is a test like a roller coaster as he says We want to see if we can make it through the challenge Like Stephen King I believe that Sci-Fi films are the same way to us We want to see what isnt real Sci-Fi films are our gateway to the future They are what let us see what could be to come One thing that Sci-Fi films show is potential future technology We as humans are always curious as to what new technology is to come next Sci-Fi films always show some type of futuristic gadget new to this world We base current technology goals off of these representations I was watching The Jetsons a few days ago and saw George Jetsons communicator watch I immediately thought about the new watches we have out Today we have what is called galaxy gear It is modeled after that watch except it is realAnother thing Sci-Fi films of today have is aliens They like to show how the human race would do against aliens if they exist Some people believe in aliens some dont Sci-Fi films either way show whether or not we would survive or be destroyed against aliens My favorite Sci-Fi movie is War Of The Worlds The reason being is that is truly shows what would happen if we were attacked I used to watch that movie all the time I believe it to be a pretty accurate interpretation of what would happen The final thing about Sci-Fi movies is that they appeal to our side of adventure in the unknown We all want to know what is far beyond us
