It has become common practice to employ domestic workers to help around the house and with the children However if we truly think about it how much do we really know about the character and culture of these strangers who we blindly trust and rely on Having a stranger in the house will naturally cause countless of problems relating to personal and property safety disrupting daily activities and the family harmony and this is mainly due to clashes of cultures Most of the time employers depend and trust domestic helpers blindly and so they hand over the responsibility of raising the child to the maid A maid is a stranger and may or will have a different culture and different set of values that differ from the ones that you would like to instill in your children However children are like a sponge they absorb everything around the especially at an early age and so as they spend time with the maid or stranger the child will become attached to this stranger and easily influenced whether by the maids culture or thoughts Therefore as the child faces conflicting cultures the original culture might be abolished and replaced with that of the strangers or the child will become morally confused as he or she receives mixed messages on morals ethics values and traditions This confusion may cause the child to go into corrupted paths of life and that is because he or she did was not raised well or by his or her parents Since parenting is for the parents and not for the maids who might not even truly care about the children Recently maids in Saudi Arabia have been making headlines that highlight the concept of the curse associated with these domestic helpers In march 2013 four year old tala was murder and massacred by her maid whom she was left alone in the house with for the parents blindly trusted this stranger
