Everyone has issues that stand in our way and it must be surmounted My independent novel called A Child Called It and The Book Thief emphasizes how to conquer problems They have similarities in overcoming challenges but they also have similarity in terms of the causes of their obstacles Liesel the protagonist in The Book Thief and David the protagonist in A Child Called It overcame their challenges during dreadful events in their lives by stealing being resourceful and by the help of other people To begin the narrator of the novel The Book Thief says that Liesel is a girl with a mountain to climb Zusak 86 This quote implies that Liesel was trying to survive the reality that Hitler had created Her first problem that she overcomes by stealing is famishment They do not eat sufficient food because of the war Based on the novel After a game of soccer both Liesel and Rudy learned the benefits of keeping their eyes open 150 and it was stealing They joined an older group of young people who steals crops from the farm to fight famishment Thus Liesel overcame hunger by the help of her friends through stealing despite knowing it was a crime Second Liesel learns how to overcome her challenges or simply the horrors of the World War II It would have been hard for her to overcome her challenges if she couldnt identify them After Liesels brother death and the suffering of her mother Liesel came up with a question Did the Fuhrer take her away 115 Liesel asked With that question she already knew the person she need to defeat Therefore having a sense of her own problem helped her to conquer any destruction she had in her life The last thing that helped her to overcome her challenges is the assistance of her foster parents One example is when her foster father Hans teaches Liesel how to read
