Addiction is when a person has a psychological dependence on a certain substance or activity to the point where they cant control it It is said about the drug use in the United States Drug use is on the rise in this country and 235 million Americans are addicted to alcohol and drugs Thats approximately one in every 10 Americans over the age of 12 roughly equal to the entire population of TexasTaylor Violence has become a new addiction It can be addicting because of the excitement it brings into peoples lives Violence similar to using drugs can alter your brain activity and cause an excitement that brings this feeling one wants to repeat and thus causes violence to be repeated Watching and playing in organized sports activities especially Major League sports is not the primary cause of violence in out of sport activities People do not carry over their on field violence to their off field life unless there are other circumstances to which they are aggressive Spectators do not use their violence away from the games they watch unless they have other underlying issues of aggressionJust like with drugs you use more aggression and violence to bring a higher level of excitement Players push themselves harder and harder to create a bigger feeling of excitement through aggression This is what pushes serial killers to continue to kill people because they are addicted to violence At a psychological level the drama and titillation of violent scenarios serve to create a sense of excitement potency and significance that is missing from most peoples daily livesJohnston This makes us crave violence and because of the excitement we get we enjoy watching violence in movies games and even sports Just think about how one gets lost in a movie plot or cheering their favorite team on Writer and Director Stephen King said pro football has become the voyeurs version of combat This
