Herman Melville an American writer lived a respected and fulfilling life He lived a life as full of adventure as his books He overcame his familys category of who he was supposed to be and whom he was supposed to act like He achieved a lot of things in his life but one of his most amazing achievements was his story Moby dick He could have been successful with his career as a writer but its not what he wanted Melville really wanted to be a poet so he pursued his passion and became a poet Herman Melville was born in 1918 He is an American writer with seven brothers and sisters He is a child of revolutionary war heros Allan the dad was an enterprising urban merchant and his business failed in 1830 Maria who was his mom was somewhat religious and well known also she was Dutch When Herman was 12 his father died and his mom had to raise eight children alone Herman was the third child born out of eight total Herman was very different as a child compared to his siblings He did not fit into his parents mold of a child They wanted him to be religious noble and refined Allan Melville wrote his son being backward in speech and somewhat slow in comprehension of a docile and amiable dispositionHerman has lived in many places throughout his life Herman was born in new york city new york then moved to Albany new york then moved to Pittsfield Massachusetts then later on moved to Lansingburg new york He ended schooling at the age of 15 and he attended the Albany classical school He had temporary jobs such as a clerk bookkeeper farm worker and teacher When he was an adult he became an American novelist short-story writer and a poet He was a bank clerk or two years and he joined his brother in business for a while
