Sidney Crosby will never play again Sidney Crosby will never play at the same level he once did Sidney Crosby will be scared to get hit etc all of those things critics said about the Penguins superstar well I think after the performance tonight Sidney Crosby silenced all of the critics who ever said he could not play at the same high level he did before he suffered the concussion There was a lot of hype in the Console Energy Center tonight as the crowd was hyped up and excited after it was announced on Sunday afternoon that Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was going to make his much anticipated return after a 10 month absence The national media was flocking to Pittsburgh for this game as there were about 250 media outlets in Pittsburgh to watch 87 make his return to action Some of the national media outlets in the Steel City included TSN ESPN Versus etc There were lots of questions that still remained unanswered before the puck was even dropped Would Sidney Crosby be the same player could he live up to all of the media hype around Pittsburgh and could the Islanders take advantage of the Crosby return and maybe steal a victory from the Penguins All of these questions would be answered very shortly The game got off to a fast start for Pittsburgh Chris Kunitz almost scored about 30 seconds into the game Sidney Crosby shot a puck to the net on Islanders rookie net minder Anders Nilsson who was making his first career start and Kunitz picked up the rebound and just shot it off the crossbar missing the goal by inches That would have been shades of Mario Remember back in 2000 when Mario Lemieux made his return nearly 11 years ago he recorded an assist 30 seconds into the game on his first shift So the Penguins missed the opportunity and the game remained scoreless For about
