If you were to ask me ten years ago if I could see myself as a doctor Iwould have told you no It took the passion of a special individual toignite me on the path towards medicine that has been an ever growing firesince leading me to realize a career in medicine is the only path I amwilling to pursue The first day of my junior year I was met at the door of my biologyclassroom by a man dressed in a full chefs costume this was Mr mybiology and anatomy and physiology teacher It was the first of many dayshe performed eye-catching stunts to try to better engage his studentsranging from wearing costumes to decorating his entire classroom toreplicate a cell Mr introduced me to the wonder that biology had tooffer He sparked an interest within me of the human body from the systemsall the way down to the cellular level I have been hooked ever since byhow the human body so vastly complex a unit functions so flawlessly and insuch harmony with itself Mr not only pointed me in the direction ofmedicine by starting my passion for biology he also helped to shape myidea of how one should choose their life work The way Mr taught withsuch passion and genuine enjoyment for his job opened my eyes as to howimportant it is to have a meaningful career that you enjoy I believe thatby working in a field that I find interesting while allowing me to helpothers a career as a physician is the way I want to spend my life After I had made the decision to pursue medicine I experienced twounique situations that helped to reinforce my career choice One of theexperiences occurred when I had the privilege to shadow Dr Birdy a familymedicine specialist for several weeks at her private practice This was aninvaluable experience that lets me see what is
